How old do I have to be to join?
To join as a cadet member, you must be between 12-18 years of age.Individuals over the age of 18 may join as a senior member.
How much does it cost?
The annual membership fee is $31.00 for cadets. Senior members pay $62.00 for the first year, & $52.00 for each year thereafter. Cadets are provided with a uniform at no cost & every member will receive a new member kit with important materials & regulations. Shoes & personalized items must be purchased by member.
Is there any military commitment?
While many cadets decide to join the military, Civil Air Patrol is completely volunteer and you are not obliged to join any branch of the service.
If I do decide to join the military, how does Civil Air Patrol help me?
Cadets who earn the Billy Mitchell award, or the grade of Second Lieutenant, enter the military at the initial grade of E-3 rather than E-1. Please note that not all branches of the service recognize this achievement. Talking to a recruiter is highly suggested.
Can I learn how to fly?
You will have the opportunity to fly in a CAP aircraft and possibly a military aircraft. CAP doesn't teach you how to fly, but you can compete for scholarships that will help pay for your pilot's license.
